Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then discovered many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report initial examinations indicate the fluid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; investigators are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.
An important representative stated the incident left him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
