Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 years after the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a major film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
In the teaser reveals Bonnie β who received the toy collection when he left for college β receiving a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
