Thousands Lost Electricity in Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Storms
Nearly 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the region, generating wind gusts hitting 109 kilometers per hour.
Substantial Hailstones and Broad Destruction
Residents reported substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. Meteorological experts announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were working to restore power throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews working to manage the extensive power failures.
Southern State's Weather Woes
At the same time, around 1,000 households in the southern state also experienced power outages after the metropolitan area experienced its wettest day in a year and a half.
Emergency response teams responded to nearly 600 emergency reports across the state, primarily for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

Weather Forecast
Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along significant areas of Queensland's east this week as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential anticipated across various areas of both areas.
Safety Concern
Health officials alerted that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This warning comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the region.
