The newest Far Cry title that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for embracing chaos and madness with the same enthusiasm, all while weaving gripping, socially charged tales. Little surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two creators whose projects have exemplified all of those qualities.
Show Details
Based on Ubisoft's popular video game series, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' structure by featuring a new location and ensemble in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant confidence and assistance.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone show. Every instalment is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a premise,” said Hawley. “To create a big action show that can shift from season to season, while always delving into the nature of society through this intricate and turbulent perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to work with Rob and present our common bold, visionary approach to the audience.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
